I wore this dress on a date night the other night and felt like a million bucks. (My brain actually wrote I felt like ‘$100 bucks’ but that doesn’t seem like enough in this economy. I adjusted my ego for inflation.) I’ve been wanting to get dressed up lately. I don’t know if it’s the seasonal change or what, but putting on a dress felt great. I’ve been so denim heavy lately that putting on a dress and fancy earrings felt weird, but in the best way. In fact, I have seen a lot more ‘date night’ outfits when we go out for our weekly date night. There for a while, and I do blame Covid, it seemed like everyone was just in atheleisure, everywhere we went. (Raises hand because same.) I remember going on where something like this and feeling WAY over dressed for a while. Again, this could just be our region, but after 2020 it seemed like casual was the only way to go. But now, for me at least, if we are going out to dinner on a weekend, I’m dressing up. I love any excuse now and it seems like everyone else is thinking the same.

I’m also trying to dress up or better or elevated…I don’t know what we want to call it. But in general I’ve been really trying to focus on elevated looks that still work for everyday. Hopefully my WIWLW shows this. There for a while I got really burned out (circa January 2023 -2024 somewhere in there but it went on for a while) and getting dressed felt like a chore. The good news is I’m slowly coming back around to finding joy in getting dressed. Like this dress gives me joy, these shoes give me joy and this giant bag I could find three laptops in gives me joy.

By the way, I love these flats. They’re a bit pricier for Sam Edelman but they’re a very nice quality shoe. A tiny heel, but I’ll still call them a flat and the suede is buttery soft. You can find them via Nordstrom here.

It’s just not quite boots weather here, but when it is…this dress is begging for a pair of tall boots. Black, brown, cowboy boots — any of them will work with this style. Which is another reason why I love a dress like this for fall, it’s just so darn versatile. Plus with our fake fall, it’s nice to have an option that at least feels seasonally and temperature appropriate.

I’ve rounded up a few other options with this perfect (in my opinion) autumn silhouette.

Fit Details

I am in the medium of the dress. From best I can tell, if you have bigger boobs size up across the brand’s site. This one fits TTS. The flats run true to size, slightly wide.
