There’s a very specific moment in the winter when getting dressed starts to feel like spring again. I don’t care that it’s February, it’s spring damn it. The weather is slowly changing but more than that my brain has decided winter is officially over. (I write this knowing this is absolutely not true.) I’m still reaching for layers or a jacket in the morning, but craving pieces that hint at spring. Our girl Gap has been quietly delivering on that in-between season sweet spot lately: easy layers, fresh neutrals, and classic shapes that make getting dressed feel effortless again.

Below is everything I tried on and kept, how it fits, and how I’d actually wear it.

CashSoft Raglan Sweater T-Shirt

I really like the CashSoft line, which feels like a soft, bouncy knit similar to cashmere. (But obvs not the same as cashmere.) The fabric holds up well, and I’ve previously purchased sweatpants / sets made from it. I sized up to large, and while it fits loose and relaxed, I do think it runs true to size. I also love the light yellow hue, offering a subtle take on this color, if you aren’t too sure about the butter yellow trend! I also like that it’s more of a casual t-shirt shape but in a nicer fabric. Comes in three colors, as well.

I’m in the 30 of the jeans, they run true to size. Find them here.

Oversized Crop Trench Jacket

I’ve realized over the past few years that I’m more of a jacket girl than I’ll ever be a coat girl. Not by choice, but my circumstance. (I live in Texas) This winter has been jacket weather to be honest and so when I was looking around I kept seeing a cropped trench everywhere. I really liked this one at Gap and this one at Zara. I ended up trying the Gap one and really liked it.

This one is WAY better than I was expecting! It looked kind of plain on line but it has this cute little pleat in the back which gives the whole jacket a swing to it. I love the crop trench trend as well, I find it to be a bit more ‘wearable’ than a long trench. I’m even thinking about selling my long trench after realizing how easy to wear the cropped trenches are! I’m in the M/L and it fits loose / kind of big.

These wide leg jeans are some of my favorite denim from Gap and they’re on sale right now! I’m in the 30 regular length and they’re the perfect fit. Slightly stretch but don’t stretch out.

Easy Wide-Leg Pants

I really like these pants as I have a hard time finding a trouser that fits just right in the waist and is long enough. But this pair of pants has a drawstring waist which might just be the solution for me. This is the Easy Pant from Gap and they have a loose fit, drawstring waist, and structured poly blend fabric that resists wrinkling. I chose navy, but black is also a great option ( I was in between the two colors! Still unsure to be honest, but navy seems to be better for spring.) They’re comfortable yet tailored, so they are ideal for work or travel. I wear a large but I was truly in between a medium and large, but went with large for the length. I’m trying to decide whether to exchange for a Medium Tall for a more flattering fit at the hips.

Organic Cotton Poplin Big Shirt

I really like Gap’s poplin shirts especially their Big Shirts as they’re very structured but lightweight for spring / summer. Perfect for layering as well. It’s also ACTUALLY oversized. For instance, I’m in the medium and it does run very oversized. It’s a nice cotton poplin, really nice quality and weight. Highly recommend as a staple for spring!

Find it in many colors here!

UltraSoft Denim Oversized Straight-Hem Shirt

This top is like a mix between a denim jacket and a chambray shirt. It’s not as strucutred as a denim jacket, but it’s not as soft as a chambray shirt. I like it for a shacket function, as well as an oversized button down shirt. I’m in the medium, fit is oversized but true to size.

So this longer length of the top has sold out but fret not if you like this chambray, there is one in a slightly shorter length here!

  1. Want to wear all these outfits but am in my practical shoe era and i just see my mother every time. Any tips for outfit wearing with not cute shoes? Or is it hopeless? lol

    1. No not hopeless at all..but I do need more context. What do we mean not cute shoes…give me your go-to’s for footwear. There’s probably a swap out that is just as comfortable as your ‘not cute’ shoes that could work with outfits as well. But I gotta know what you deem not cute shoes first! Like I’m only envisioning chunky sneakers? I’m dying to know!
